Tips for applying:

  • Most middle schools and high schools are not fortunate enough to have a film and video class, so you may not have any school video projects to submit. But don’t worry! Film and Video is looking for creative and curious students that express an interest in filmmaking and content creation. You only need to show something you have created. Here are some suggestions for your work samples:

    • Anything you have edited using iMovie, Capcut, TikTok or another video app.

    • Youtube or Instagram that you have posted.

    • Videos you have made as part of any class (like a video project for History or English)

    • Highlights of video game footage that you edited

    • Edited video of you or a friend playing a sport (Like a hype video)

    • Livestreams you hosted from Youtube, Twitch, Instagram or Tiktok

    • A short story or script you have written

    • Photographs you took of nature or your family and friends

    • A piece of art that you have created (drawing, painting, charcoal, pen and ink, etc.)

    • A comic strip or manga that you made or helped make

    • A clip from a play, musical or other stage performance that you have been in

    • Performing a monolog or acting scene

    • If you don’t have any of these, make one before your interview! It doesn’t have to be long and you can film and edit on your phone.
