Vocal

Participants will improve their singing, playing, and music reading skills, while also expanding their song repertoire and listening abilities. Students will learn how music connects with different cultures and academic subjects. Through the study and performance of various choral music styles, students will refine their vocal techniques and musicianship.

Our high school concert choir class allows students to apply their musical skills within a collaborative ensemble setting. They will master solfege, major and minor scales, and four-part harmonies, while conveying musical interpretation through dynamics, phrasing, facial expression, and movement for polished presentations. Additionally, students will gain insights into the structure of musical compositions through listening and analysis, and will be trained to aurally and visually identify repetition in musical scores.

Instrumental

The Lee High Instrumental Magnet is designed for students who are passionate about developing their musical talents and exploring the many pathways of instrumental music. Students have the opportunity to study in specialized classes such as orchestra, guitar, and music production, while also building a strong foundation in music theory.

Through a combination of performance and real-world experiences, students participate in student recitals, concerts, and internships that prepare them for both collegiate and career opportunities in music. Whether performing on stage, composing original works, or producing music with the latest technology, students in the Instrumental Magnet grow as musicians, creators, and leaders.

  • "I am currently a senior and have been in this magnet for four years. My time in this magnet has been a fun experience throughout my four years in high school. Though at the beginning, this magnet had less than twenty people, it was a magnet I enjoyed being a part of. I would recommend this magnet to anyone who wants to do anything with music or wants to extend their musical skills. I am glad to see how far this magnet has grown and I hope only good things happen to this magnet and continue to grow."

  • "I’ve been in the instrumental magnet for 4 years. This magnet has taught me a lot and lot of things I didn't know and brought me a lot of opportunities. When I first got here, there were only like 10 people in the class and a small orchestra. Now we have around 40 people in the class with way more opportunities. Opportunities include having a bigger orchestra, having a music production class, a guitar class, and we even have a music theory class. This magnet has grown so much, and it will keep on growing. The reason why you should join this magnet is because it can make you better at playing your instrument and bring you a lot of opportunities"

    -Christopher W.

  • "The Lee High School Instrumental magnet has grown in so many ways from my freshman to senior year. Gradually with the help of this program and Mr. Pearson I have excelled in music, education, and personal growth. My freshman year I wasn't sure what to expect. I never would have guessed now in my senior year that music became my whole life. Musically I have grown so much now playing Clarinet, violin, viola and many more instruments to come. This program is truly like no other because of him and will change any person that joins it for the better."
